Let There Be Light is abstract fine art photography that explores the identity of God's first creation: light. Aesthetically driven, the intent of this series is to examine the qualities and inherent beauty of light. To create these nonrepresentational abstract images, I use a digital projector and project digital images in a dark room. I turn my camera away from what the light is falling on and instead focus on the rays of light themselves. By incorporating various other elements in the light rays such as vapor, water, and ice the abstract visuals will showcase the elevated beauty of light as it exists in itself. Light is often a tool in photography, however this project will elevate light to the leading roll and focus the viewer’s eye on the beauty and wonder of God’s first creation.
